In early March 2010, 18-year-old Russell Bohling left his home at West Ella in East Yorkshire to attend his college course. When he failed to return home his family contacted police to report him missing, and the next morning his car was found abandoned at Bempton Cliffs, some 45-miles away. The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service conducted a search of the surrounding area, including a cursory inspection of the nearby RAF Bempton bunker that had been used as an old early warning station, but had been disused since April 1972. No sign of the teenager was found, and his family strongly suspected foul play, believing that a promised loan from his father may possibly have been a factor in his disappearance. Further police inquiries uncovered his fascination with the history of the Bempton Bunker, and the mysterious satanic themed pornographic artwork featured within, strong indications of a sinister past, that may have been the reason Russell had visited the site on the day he went missing.
